The Sea Shepherd's fundraiser.

Sea Shepherd's Mission Statement

"Established in 1977, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) is an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organisation. Our mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world's oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species.

Sea Shepherd uses innovative direct-action tactics to investigate, document, and take action when necessary to expose and confront illegal activities on the high seas. By safeguarding the biodiversity of our delicately-balanced ocean ecosystems, Sea Shepherd works to ensure their survival for future generations."

( Quote from the Sea Shepherd's website)

Living so close to the Antarctic waters here in Hobart, there has been many times where I have been fortunate enough to be introduced to some of the fantastic crew that work upon the Sea Shepherd (they dock here for supplies).

I have a trusted friend, whom I regard as quite close, who boarded the 'Steve Erwin' five years ago - and somehow never left! The stories that are relayed once back on land are awe-inspiring. Their direct-action approach is crucial to the future existence of many endangered marine-life, including whales, large rare tuna fish and dolphins at risk of unnecessary killing for their meat for consumption by human beings (Gah! Human beings can be so cruel!)

This is a non-for-profit organisation, and run solely on donations. Therefore I am holding a small auction event in around 4 weeks time, auctioning Bare Rumps nappies combined with a collaboration with the lovely Bex from Bexie Boo, and the lovely Chris from Baby Bullfrogs, where 100% of the money raised goes to this important cause. If you are interested in donating your  hand crafted items to help towards this campaign it will be gratefully and fully appreciated .

Visit The Sea Shepherd's website to get more of the finer details about there organisation .
Also be sure to check out 'Whale Wars' a television series shot in Antarctica showing the direct action from the Sea Shepherd and their confrontations with harpoon vessels.

Speaking of the "High Seas!" -

I am half way through a nappy that I am really enjoying the creative process with this weekend. This is my first pirate-themed nappy I have created, and the light-bulb went on *insert crazy brain flash*  and could not think of a better organisation to support through my 100% donation auctions.

This nappy is a order for overseas and already had a lovely home
The auction item coming up will have whales, waves ,ships .

As well as being quite busy in the studio over the weekend, Paige Red has been sending me slowly grey! Ahhh the joys of the famous "terrible twos" stage!

Did I just vacuum the house this morning? Ummm, yep! That's right twice already! May as well go for a third run.... My vacuum cleaner would be a delicious stir-fry delight on the bottom of the bag after all the rice that is hovered up on a daily basis, don't tell me I am not the only mum that vacuums large quantities of rice of the floor ?

Hope you are all having a marvellous Sunday! The sun is shining - Spring has sprung! (my favourite time of the year). Time to put Paige down for a kip, snap up this nappy, and settle down to watch a session of Whale wars.
